Admission Requirements

  • Applicant must complete an Admissions Application.

  • Applicant must possess a valid driver's license prior to enrollment.

  • Applicant must possess a social security card.

  • Applicant must pass the Department of Transportation physical exam and a drug test.

  • Applicant must meet the requirements of the Motor Carrier Federal Safety Regulations, section 391, Qualifications of Drivers. 

  • Applicant must have a clean driving record. Specifically, no DWI/DUI violations within the last 5 years; no more than 3 moving violations in a 3 year period with no more than 2 in the past year.

  • Applicant must have no felony convictions involving illegal drugs. Any and all other felony convictions must be reviewed for length and severity.* 

  • Applicant must have verifiable work history going back 10 years unless precluded by age, in which case the history must go back to the time applicant left school. Periods of unemployment will also require verification.*

  • Applicant must be 21 years old. Exceptions will be made for persons at least 18 years old who can prove ability to benefit from the program and can provide a bonafide pre-hire letter as a commercial driver.*

*Laws governing the transportation industry provide strict guidelines regarding drivers of vehicles which cross state lines and international borders. Please contact an admissions representative for additional information.

 

 
Tuition

There are a wide variety of tuition payment options available to students. The best way to get your future in gear is to pay for your training yourself by cash or credit card. Enroll NOW and get on the road to you new career!

For those of you with limited resources, financial assistance is available to qualified applicants. Coastal Truck Driving School is online with a number of lending institutions that offer student loan programs. There are also local, state and federal funded programs which may help pay your tuition if you qualify. Coastal Truck Driving School is an approved training provider for LARehab (Louisiana Rehabilitation Services); WIA (Workforce Investment Act) in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas; 55Plus and MET (Motivational Education & Training, Inc.) Louisiana, to name a few. Our staff will assist you through the application process for the programs that best suit your needs and for which you may qualify.

Additionally, most of the trucking companies that hire Coastal Truck Driving School graduates offer tuition reimbursement as part of their benefits packages.

 

 
Job Placement Assistance

Coastal Truck Driving School does not promise nor guarantee job placement to graduates. However, through its Placement Assistance Program, the School maintains contact with trucking companies throughout the industry for which we train students. Many of the trucking companies which hire Coastal graduates regularly schedule visits to our facilities to meet with students and to discuss career opportunities.

Job placement assistance begins during training and continues through graduate. Our staff will assist you with completing job applications, scheduling interviews, and follow-up calls.


 

 
Truck Driving School Schedule

Coastal Truck Driving School offers Weekday and Weekend courses with new classes starting at least once a month. The course is 160 hours in length taught over a period of 4 weeks or 8 weekends (Saturday/Sunday). The 40 hours of classroom and 120 hours of practical instruction include:
